Zakat

Yesterday, I went to Zakat unit of IIUM and paid an amount of RM X00 as my zakat . I felt good and happy. After all, paying zakat is not something that can be done everyday. While I was there waiting for the service there, I remember the old days when we study zakat in middle school. It was like ten years ago and I was still a kid at that time. I had a lot of fun back then, but most of what I remembered yesterday was the lectures on zakat. Zakat is usually translated as "giving alms", and the Arabic root of this word is zaka which means growth, cleanness and blessings. Zakat is the third pillar of Islam which means it is obligatory on every capable Muslim. The hikmah or the objective of zakat is to purify our money as well as purify ourself from  stinginess and parsimony. Also, zakat  is one of the greatest forms of Islamic Social Solidarity because, in simply, the rich is obligated to help the poor. Of course, there are many other benefits on zakat on the individuals a

Genii vs. Hard-workers

The truly successful people I met until this moment can be classified into two groups: Genii or Hard-workers.  So before I proceed, I need to define who is a genius, and who is a hard-worker. The term genius often refers to a person with distinguished mental and intellectual abilities. In the other hand, a hard worker is someone who works as hard as a slave. One can see from the two definitions that one of them is a gift while the other one is obtained. However, I never met someone who can be considered as a genius-hard-worker. I think if such a person exists, he or she will be able to conquer the world. Genii are people with extraordinary intellectual capabilities. They are can achieve great things with no much effort.  The number of genii is far lower that the number of hard-worker. As said before, those people are gifted as there were born genii. And with the technological advancement of today, there is no way to increase someone’s intelligence. Hard-workers are normal people exce

My Gadgets

Where were my manners? How did I forget to introduce me gadgets to the world??! Anyway, without any delay, here they are: Bahamut: My computer, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU processor, 2GB Ram memory, and 32-bit operating system. Ragnarok: My External Hard drive, 1 TB, 3.5 inches, turbo USB transfer, and plug-n-play ready for immediate use. Omega: My hand phone, Sony Ericsson C905, Cyber-shot 8MP equipped with Xenon flash, 160MB internal memory, 240 x 320 pixels screen. Tiamat: My pen drive, Cruser Blade 4GB, SanDisk. If the names sound familiar to you, then the following paragraphs will tell you why. If they don’t sound familiar, then it is good to know new information and things, right? Bahamut is a vast fish that supports the earth in Arabian mythology which is described as having a head resembling a hippopotamus or elephant. Bahamut described as so immense that human beings cannot bear its sight. It is so huge that all the seas of the world, placed in one of the fish’s nostrils, wo

My Ultimate Strategy

No one knows what the futures hold for us. Therefore, everyone must be well ready, prepared so he or she will be in the safe side. So I am going to share here my strategy on tackling the EAP final exam paper. First, before I reveal my ultimate strategy, I would like to point out how I did come up with it. After reviewing several samples for the final exams and consulting seniors. I concluded that the limited time is the major factor that impedes students from scoring in this final. So, the main goal of my strategy is to minimize the time consumed in answering the final. We will be given a certain number of articles (four) and we have to refer to them in our answers. So if someone wants to score, he or she has to improve the speed of writing and reading unless he or she is already a fast reader or writer. How to measure your speed of writing and reading? Well, there is no accurate method for that however a rough estimation will do the job. The duration of the exam is given and the max

Every Night And Every Day

Every night and every day Every night and every day Never forget to say La ilaha illa Allah (Nothing worthy of worship except Allah) When you’re walking down the street Use your time and repeat And say with every heartbeat La ilaha illa Allah (Nothing worthy of worship except Allah) To be able to defeat Shaytan and his deceit Ask Allah for help and repeat La ilaha illa Allah (Nothing worthy of worship except Allah) If we want to succeed We must purify our creed Obey Him in every deed La ilaha illa Allah (Nothing worthy of worship except Allah) To become completely freed From your envy and your greed In your heart plant the seed of La ilaha illa Allah (Nothing worthy of worship except Allah)

The One Where It Could Have Been

Maybe the title is familiar to you, that is because it is the name of an episode of the TV series "FRIENDS". I was watching this episode again recently, and I thought in myself, what if this and that? Where would I be now? How my life would be? And a lot of other questions... So here I am going to answer three of the "What if" question concerning my life... First of All: What if I did not come to study in Malaysia... If that is what happened, I would be having a permanent job as a teacher and saving up for wedding now. I would be searching for my life partner most probably. I would be the Ustaz and the Imam in the Masjid where I used to study halaqah. I would be able to pray 5 times a day in Al-Masjid Al-Haram. I would be able to help and serve my parents more. And I would know nothing about automotive engineering... Second question: What if I was a more healthy person... If that had happened, I would be a big person as my brothers. I would never quitted football

Outside the box

This is a real nice article I read today, it shows the writer’s believe and faith in Allah. Also, you can notice that he has a great mind as he was able to look ‘outside the box’ on the topic of the article. Enough about the writer let’s read the article itself… “The freedom fleet Allah SWT says (And to Allah belong the hosts of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is Ever All-Knower, All-Wise). And does a Muslim doubt that Allah wants only good for mankind generally and for Muslims specifically? Of course not, however, people always in haste and hurry for good things. Allah SWT says (Man is created of haste). If a Muslims stop at and contemplate about any event in this universe, he would be surprised as he finds the ultimate wisdom of Al-mighty Allah. Truth, justice, peace and harmony will not come true without strife, struggle, and sacrifices with time, money and blood. So let’s stop and think about what happened on that day, 31th of May 2010. That day is when the tyrant oppressor

I wanna look through that window!

Once upon a time, in one of the hospitals there were two old patients in one room. Both of them had a fatal illness. One of them was allowed to set on his bed an hour everyday in the afternoon. For his luck, his bed was the only one next to the room's window. However, the other patient had to lie on his back always… The two patients used to spend their time chatting without seeing each other because each of them was lying on his back facing the ceiling. They talked about their family, houses, lives, and everything else… Every day in the afternoon, the patient next to the window used to sit on his bed as required by the doctor, looking through the window and describing the outer world to his friend. His friend used to look forward to this time of the day as much as he does because it makes his life happier while listening to his friend's description of the outer world… He talked about the garden in which there is a big lake where ducks used to swim and kids who made boats out

Muslims have proved Newton Wrong!!!

Newton's Third Law of Motion states that “for every action there is a reaction which has the same magnitude and opposite direction.” This law has been proven by him. However, this law goes beyond physics. It can be applied in our lives as well. So before you do something (action), you should consider the consequences of that deed (reaction). This interpretation of the law has been proven true as well by experience. However, Muslims proved this wrong and they are still proving it wrong! If Newton was alive these days, then he would say about them "No actions, neither reactions!” I would like to prove this by a very obvious example...Palestine was oppressed for couples of decades. A lot of Muslims there have been killed. However, there were no actions neither reactions. And recently, the freedom fleet headed to help the tyrannised people in Gaza was attacked by Israel, and still no action neither reaction from the Muslim world!  So, why all of this is happening to the Muslims?
